(PARK TOWNSHIP) – An Indiana man is facing charges in Michigan.

Michigan State Police from the White Pigeon Detachment stopped a vehicle at 6:35 PM Sunday for speeding on U.S. 131 near M-216 in Park Township. The driver, a 49 year old Goshen man, had a valid Indiana permit for carrying a concealed weapon.

The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and for a CCW violation. Michigan State Police say while Michigan does recognize Indiana CCW permits, because the driver was also arrested for operating while intoxicated, it violates the agreement of reciprocity between the states for the CCW.

A test was done and the driver's blood alcohol content was nearly three times Michigan's legal limit of .08.

The driver is being held in the St. Joseph County Jail.
