(PORTER TOWNSHIP) – Two people were injured when a vehicle struck a garage Saturday night in Cass County's Porter Township.
Sheriff Richard Behnke says his office was called at 6:24 PM Saturday to investigate a crash. Deputies determined that 55 year old John Hendrickson of Union was driving north on Sunset Boulevard, south of U.S. 12, when he lost control of his vehicle, went off the road and drove through a detached garage.
Hendrickson had a minor cut on his forehead. The homeowner, 46 year old Victor Dufour, was in the garage when the vehicle drove through. He was taken to Elkhart General Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
It's believed alcohol and marijuana were contributing factors in this crash, which remains under investigation. The Porter Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
