(UNDATED) – A two county chase ended with the arrest of a person.
Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department pursued a stolen vehicle early Friday morning that came from Van Buren County. The stolen vehicle crashed on M-40 south of Hoffman Street, and the suspect then fled on foot.
Deputies called in a K-9 officer to help with the search, but they could not locate the man. A few hours later, a resident called 911 after finding an unknown person in a building on his property. The person then left the scene.
Deputies along with a K-9 officer from the Michigan State Police searched for the suspect and found him hiding in a vehicle on another property. He was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect is being held in the Cass County Jail on charges of fleeing and eluding, breaking and entering and obstructing justice. He also has charges pending in multiple jurisdictions.
The man's name is being withheld pending his arraignment.
