(STURGIS) – Sturgis Public Schools have adopted some new ways to better help students and staff.
During Monday's study session, the Board of Education was presented with some recommendations by the Student Behavior Supports And Services Committee. The group has been meeting since January to look at what the School District has in place to address supporting student behavior and what could be done to make it better both for the students and for school personnel.
Sturgis Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert says one of the main changes will start immediately and allow teachers better access to student information. It will allow them to see information not only on the students in their class, but all students in their building.
In addition, all in school suspensions and out of school suspensions will be added to the Power School system by the end of each day so teachers will have an updated list.
There will be new implementations District wide, as well as at each school. Ebert says these changes do not mean things weren't being done. It's to make sure they are being done consistently and across the school district.
