(LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP) – Information on a proposed annexation of property has been sent to the State Boundary Commission.
Lockport Township Zoning Administrator Doug Kuhlman says that all of the documents regarding the annexation of township property to the City of Three Rivers for use as a sports complex have been sent to the state agency.
Lockport Township has opposed the annexation.
Kuhlman says 127 members of the public sent in written comments to the Boundary Commission, and approximately 70 percent of them opposed the complex, either at the proposed location or in its entirety.
Of the people who wanted the complex, 18 said they like the proposed area, and 18 favored the complex in concept.
The Boundary Commission will hold a hearing on April 12. The Chair of the Commission will decide at that time if they will allow public comment at the meeting or not.
A final decision on the annexation is not expected until July 1.
