(CENTREVILLE) – An event is being held this weekend to help out a special lady.

Centreville Public Schools employees are holding a benefit dinner, bake sale and auction to support 45 year old Lisa (Lindsley) DeLeo. She is a secretary in the elementary office at Centreville Schools and is involved in many of the daily events and activities in the district.

DeLeo was recently diagnosed with and is currently being treated for Stage 2 Multiple Myeloma, which is an aggressive cancer of the plasma cells found in the blood and bone marrow. It requires ongoing treatments including medication, chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants.

Saturday's event will be from 4 until 8 PM in the Centreville Elementary Gym. Dinner tickets are $6 in advance and at the door. The dinner will include all beef hot dogs, macaroni & cheese, chips, apple slices, baby carrots, beverage and dessert.

Some of the auction items include a Matt Thornton autographed baseball; a Chicago Bears football autographed by the team, 4 Chicago Cubs rooftop tickets and a Michigan football helmet.

The St. Joseph County United Way was contacted to see if they could help DeLeo. United Way Board member Karin Zona reached out to Executive Director Kelly Hostetler about using the United Way's Family Catastrophic Fund to assist DeLeo.

Hostetler says the United Way has also established the Lisa DeLeo Fund, through the Family Catastrophic Fund. This allows family, friends and supporters the opportunity to give to Lisa to help with medical expenses.

Donations can by made online through PayPal at the United Way website. Click Here.

You can also drop them off at their office in Centreville, 660 East Main Street.
