(STURGIS) – Documents released by Sturgis Public Schools shows that a former teacher allegedly made inappropriate comments towards eight students.

Through the Freedom Of Information Act, Swick Broadcasting has obtained documentation from Sturgis Public Schools regarding the investigation of 37 year old Keith Lang. He was arrested in January and is charged with three counts of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct; and one count each of distributing or promoting child sexually abusive activity; using a computer to commit a crime; possession of child sexually abusive material; and distributing sexually explicit visual or verbal matter of children.

The investigation started in January after Sturgis Public Schools were made aware of possible violations. School and Sturgis Police officers talked with several female students, and found the allegations against Lang went back as far at 2006.

In the documents, the students that were interviewed shared that Lang would contact them through e-mail, text or social media sources, and ask them, what the School District deemed as inappropriate questions. It's also alleged that Lang asked for the students to send him pictures of themselves partially dressed or even in the nude, and that he would send them pictures of himself in his underwear.

Lang tendered his resignation on June 22. In the letter, he said that his resignation is not, nor shall be construed as, an admission of liability or wrongdoing of any nature, and Lang specifically denies any and all allegations of wrongdoing.

Lang has been a teacher at Sturgis High School since 2004. In addition to his teaching duties, he was a freshman and junior varsity football coach for many years.

Lang is scheduled to be arraigned in St. Joseph County Circuit Court on July 25. He remains free after posting a $150,000 bond.
