(CENTREVILLE) – There will be no recall of Sturgis City Commissioner Ina Taulbee.

On Monday the St. Joseph County Election Commission held a clarity/factual hearing on Statements of Reason for a possible recall of Taulbee, who is a Sturgis City Commissioner for the Second Precinct.

The Election Commission is made up of Probate Court Judge David Tomlinson, County Clerk Lindsay Oswald and County Treasurer Judith Ratering. Tomlinson stated what the Commission would be looking at in making a determination if a recall should happen or not. ...... {LISTEN}.

The petition states that following a public meeting where Commissioners refused to hear from constituents, Taulbee declared “I don't care what anyone thinks, I do not have to listen to anybody”.

Taulbee spoke to the Election Commission, giving her account of what happened following a City Commission meeting where Drey Perkins came up to her and Commissioner Karl Littman. She says she felt threatened by Perkins and what he was saying.

Perkins, who sponsored the petition, also shared with the Election Commission, that he did speak to Taulbee and told her that as a resident of her precinct, he was there to represent other residents.

Oswald shared something that she saw on the petition that raised a question for her. ...... {LISTEN}.

Tomlinson shared the same concern. The Election Commission voted 3-0 to dismiss the petition due to that wording.

Tomlinson did say that under Michigan Law, Perkins has ten days to file an appeal on this ruling with St. Joseph County Circuit Court.
