(UNDATED) – State and Federal races around Southwest Michigan are now set for the November General election.

In the race for the Republican nomination to run for the 21st State Senate seat, Kim LaSata defeated Dave Pagel 15,343 to 12,761. LaSata will face Ian Haight this fall. Haight ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination and received 14,629 votes.

This winner of the November election will replace John Proos who can not seek re-election due to term limits.

In the 16th State Senate District, Republican incumbent Mike Shirkey defeated challenger Matt Dame 3015 to 2109. Shirkey will face Democratic candidate Val Cochron Toops, who won her party's nomination with 2116 votes, and Libertarian candidate Ronald Muszynski, who received 210 votes.

Incumbent Aaron Miller ran unopposed for the Republican nomination for the 59th Michigan House of Representatives seat and received 7633 votes. He will face off against Democratic challenger Dennis Smith, who ran unopposed for his party's nomination and collected 4297 votes.

In the 58th Michigan House District, incumbent Republican Eric Leutheuser ran unopposed and received 4817 votes. He will face Democrat Tamara Barnes who also ran unopposed and had 2165 votes cast for her.

In the race for the Democratic nomination to run for the U.S. 6th District seat in the House of Representatives, there is a correction from our earlier reports. Based on information from the Michigan Secretary Of State, we broadcast that David Benac was the winner of the Democratic primary. However, corrected information shows Matt Longjohn was the winner with 22,227 votes. David Benac finished second with 12,755 votes. George Franklin collected 17,319 votes and Rich Eichholz had 7,617 votes.

Longjohn will run against incumbent Republican Congressman Fred Upton, who ran unopposed and received 63,054 votes.

In the U.S. 7th District primary, Republican incumbent Tim Walberg ran unopposed and received 69,002 votes. He will face Democratic challenger Gretchen Driskell, who defeated Steven Friday 52,193 to 9,054.
