Halloween Safety A Must
Wednesday Oct 31, 2018 2:46pm

(UNDATED) – It's Halloween, and that means in addition to fun and candy, we also need to be thinking of safety.

If your child's costume has a mask, it's a good idea to make the eye holes a little bigger to allow them to see better as they go door to door collecting their treats. You may also want to put some reflective tape on their costume so that they can be seen by motorists that may be driving around this evening.

Never let your child go out trick or treating alone. Make sure you are with them, or another responsible adult is walking with them. Always cross the street at designated intersections and cross walks to insure their safety.

When they get home, check their candy and goodies to make sure they have not been tampered with and are safe to eat.

Motorists, drive a little slower this evening as you make your way through neighborhoods. Keep alert for children who may dart out into the road between vehicles. If you have to go somewhere, it's a good rule of thumb to travel before trick or treating starts or after it is over.

If you are out of candy or do not want to give out any treats, it's a good idea to turn off your porch light.

A list of trick or treat hours around our listening area is on our website.
