(KALAMAZOO) - The Western Michigan women's basketball team dropped a Mid-American Conference matchup versus the University of Toledo on Wednesday, falling by a score of 80-57. Western Michigan struggled in areas that are usually strong suits. WMU turned the ball over 15 times, 12 in the first half alone. The giveaways were costly as the Rockets scored 18 points off Bronco turnovers. Additionally, WMU struggled from beyond the arc, converting two of 21 attempts. Toledo also out-rebounded the Broncos 37-27 and led 12-1 in second chance points. Redshirt senior Jasmyn Walker scored 13 points to surpass 1,000 points in her career. After totaling 679 points in two seasons at Valparaiso University, Walker has now accumulated 326 points in Brown & Gold to reach the 1K scoring club. After missing a pair of games due to injury, Deja Wimby returned to lead the Broncos with 14 points. Walker pulled down a team high eight rebounds and Kamrin Reed added 10 points. Western Michigan, now 7-8 overall and 1-3 in the MAC, return to University Arena on Saturday, January 19, hosting Buffalo.
