Red Wings, Michael Rasmussen agree to three year deal

(DETROIT) - The Detroit Red Wings and 2017 first-round draft pick Michael Rasmussen agreed to terms on a three-year contract. Rasmussen, 18, is the ninth overall pick in June after playing the last two seasons at forward for the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League. Last season, he had 32 goals and 55 points in 50 games before suffering a wrist injury and missing the final 22 games of the campaign. He led the team with 15 power play goals. In the news release from the Wings, the team said Rasmussen is slated to be the captain for Tri-City this coming season. The 6 foot 6, 221 pounder played for Canada in the World Junior Summer Showcase in Plymouth. The Surrey, British Columbia, native participated in the Wings' prospect camp in Traverse City last month.
