(DETROIT) – The Detroit Red Wings are a step closer to having Filip Zadina in the lineup next season. While Zadina was still in town post development camp, the Wings got him signed Saturday to a three-year entry-level contract carrying a $925,000 annual salary cap hit. They selected the 18 year old Zadina at sixth overall in the 2018 draft and hope to see him challenge for a job in Detroit as soon as fall. Red Wings General Manager Ken Holland says Zadina is going to be given an opportunity to make our team. But in terms of player development, he has to be ready. Zadina has the skill set the Wings need: He’s a force with the puck, able to score in tight areas and make plays. He’s the type of player who wins games. He’s a marketable gem, too, possessing swagger and charm.
