St. Joseph County Household Hazardous Waste Collection & Recycling

St. Joseph County and the County Solid Waste Committee is holding a Household Hazardous Waste Collection and Recycling event on Saturday, October 28th from 3 until 7 p.m. at the St. Joe County Fairgrounds in Centreville. This is for St. Joseph County residents only!
Materials for the hazardous waste collection include:
Pool chemicals, pesticides, old gas, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, oil-based paints, pharmaceutical needles, smoke alarms, and more. Up to 100 pounds will be accepted at no charge. There will be a $1.00 per pound charge for anything over and above 100.
Materials NOT accepted:
Explosives and waste oil. Waste oil can be recycled at auto parts stores.
Paper Recycling includes:
Cardboard, newspaper, magazines, junk mail, and phone books. NO Plastics.
Appliance Recycling includes:
Scrap metal, refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, and window air conditioners.
Personal computers, telephones, TVs, game systems, laptop computers, printers, DVD players, cables and wires, scanners, monitors, and VCRs. Residents will be allowed 2 TVs or monitors at no cost. Additional TVs and monitors will be $10 for each. No additional charge or limit on the other electronics.
Up to 10 passenger tires at no cost. Others tires will be charged as follows:
Passenger & Light Trucks (Anything over 10) $2.00 each
Semi Tires $5.00 each
Tractor Tires $25.00 each
*All tires must be free of mud, concrete, tree vines, etc.
There will be a fee of $3.00 per can, (regardless of amount of paint in can). Please separate your latex paint from oil-based paint/stain.
