(WHITLEY COUNTY, IN) – An Albion man has been arrested on a charge of rape, following a six month investigation.

The Indiana State Police say they arrested 25 year old Mathew J. Clark on Sunday.

The investigation started in October 2020 after ISP Detectives received information regarding an allegation that Clark had raped an 18 year old Whitley County female at the Deniston Camping Area in Larwill, Indiana in June of 2020.

The findings from the investigation were turned over to the Whitley County Prosecutor's Office, who issued an arrest warrant for Clark on March 4. Indiana State Police immediately went to Clark's residence in Albion, but discovered that he had fled the area.

Troopers from the Fort Wayne Post took on the assignment of tracking Clark's whereabouts. They developed information and on Sunday discovered that Clark was staying at a residence in Mishawaka. The Troopers, with assistance from two other troopers, were able to locate Clark and take him into custody.

Clark was taken to the Whitley County Jail and booked on the charge of rape. He is being held on a $100,000 bond, pending a court appearance.
