(PORTER COUNTY) – A traffic stop led to the arrest of a Howe man on drug and weapons charges.

Indiana State Police stopped a vehicle Thursday that was heading west on I-94 in Porter County near the Chesterton exit for a traffic violation. A search of the vehicle by a State Police K-9 officer indicated the presence of drugs. A subsequent search of the vehicle and the driver, 28 year old Devante West of Howe, turned up suspected heroin, oxycodone and marijuana, along with a loaded hand gun.

State Police say West is a convicted felon.
