Woman And Child Die From Injuries Sustained In Crash

(KENDALLVILLE) – A woman and child who were injured in a two vehicle crash in Kendallville have died from their injuries.

The Noble County Sheriff's Department says 26 year old Shelby McClellan of Columbia City was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name had not been released initially due to notifying her immediate family.

Two children who were in McClellan's vehicle were flown from the scene to a Fort Wayne hospital.. One of them a three year old, died from their injuries. The second child is in critical condition.

Investigators say just after 8:30 AM Tuesday, McClellan was driving east on Waits Road. She failed to yield the right of way to a dump truck that was traveling north on State Road 3 and the vehicles collided.

The driver of the dump truck was taken to Parkview Noble Hospital.

Sheriff's Department officials say an employee of Avilla Motor Works helped to free the two children from McClellan's car.

Assisting deputies at the scene were the Kendallville Police and Fire Departments, and the Indiana State Police.
