Fort Wayne Man Killed In DeKalb County Crash

(DEKALB COUNTY) – A Fort Wayne man was killed when his vehicle collided with a garbage truck Tuesday morning.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department, Bryan Horvath had parked his garbage truck in front of a private residence and got out to dump the trash bin into the truck.

Deputies say 34 year old Nicholas Chambers of Fort Wayne struck the rear of the garbage truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Chambers' vehicle, Philip Nason Jr., was removed from the automobile and taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.

Horvath was struck by a lift arm on the garbage truck.

Assisting deputies were the Jackson Fire and Rescue, the Indiana State Police and Parkview EMS.
