(ELKHART) – Three people were sent to the hospital following a two vehicle crash in Elkhart.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office says 19 year old Allan Cairns of Elkhart was driving east on County Road 10 at Stonebridge Drive just after 4:30 Thursday afternoon. Deputies say he lost control of his vehicle in curve and went into the westbound lane, striking an automobile driven by 61 year old Bobby Butler of Goshen head on.

Cairns was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital with two broken legs. Butler was transported to Elkhart General Hospital with a broken ankle, and his passenger, 56 year old Patricia Moles of Goshen, was also taken to Elkhart General Hospital complaining of abdominal pain.

The crash is still under investigation.
