(STURGIS) – Sturgis Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert received a highly effective rating during his annual evaluation.

The Sturgis Board of Education held a closed session with Ebert to conduct his evaluation, following Monday's special meeting. The Board utilized the School Advance Administrator Evaluation System, which is a research tool that includes a rubric that measures 31 areas essential to successful instructional leadership.

Board of Education President Scott Boland says the way Ebert and Assistant Superintendent Nicole Airgood have guided the school district this year during the pandemic has been tremendous. Boland says the leadership they provide can be seen throughout the whole district.

Ebert credits Airgood for much of the hard work and positive change occurring throughout the District. He says Airgood's passion for kids and serving others inspires the best in the staff.

Airgood also received a highly effective rating during her evaluation.

Ebert says he and Airgood appreciate the continued guidance and support from the Board of Education, and are excited for what the 2021-2022 school year has in store for the students, staff, families and the community.

The Board extended Ebert's contract for a three year term through June 30, 2024. He also received a 1.25% wage increase for the 2021-22 season, which will make his base salary $141,295. The wage increase could go up as high as 3% if enrollment targets are met.
