(COLDWATER) – The number of COVID Delta Variant cases in St. Joseph and Branch Counties continues to rise.

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency says as of June 30, they are aware of five confirmed cases in St. Joseph County and nine confirmed cases in Branch County.

CHA Medical Director Dr. Lauren Vogel says all three of the available vaccines are effective against the virus. They will reduce the severity of symptoms and have been proven to reduce the need for hospitalization. Vogel says all residents should consider getting vaccinated prior to the resumption of classes at local schools and colleges.

Health Officer Rebecca Burns says residents in Branch, Hillsdale and St. Joseph Counties should continue to take important steps against COVID-19 variants by getting vaccinated, wearing masks if you are unvaccinated, following appropriate hand washing, disinfecting, and social distancing guidance, and stay home if you are not feeling well.

If you have signs or symptoms of COVID-19, contact your local health care provider or local health department for testing. Vaccination continues to be offered at all CHA locations and at remote clinics by appointment.

COVID vaccination clinic dates and times can be found on line. ...... {LISTEN}.
