(AUBURN) – An iconic location known for selling famous cars may soon become the site of a sports complex.

The Auburn Auction Park has been the host site for classic car enthusiasts for their annual Labor Day weekend auction for many years. Developers say they are now looking at the property to be the home of a sports complex.

An application for the proposed Auburn Sports Complex has been filed by Foresight Consulting LLC. Documents show the company now owns the property off County Road 11A, near I-69 south of Auburn.

Plans for the sports complex call for the renovation of the existing building for basketball courts, and the development of four outdoor soccer fields, one indoor soccer field and eight baseball diamonds.

Another application was also filed by Foresight Consulting to build a commercial subdivision that would be north of, and south of County Road 11A.

Officials say the 2021 car auction will go on as planned this Labor Day weekend.
