(MARCELLUS) – A suspect has been arrested in connection with two armed robberies that happened in Marcellus on Tuesday.
Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department received a call about an armed robbery at 5:43 PM on Tuesday at the Shell Gas Station in Marcellus. While information was being taken of this crime, a second call came in of an armed robbery at the Mega Liquor Gas Station just down the road from the first robbery.
Information taken from the calls gave a basic description of the suspect, and officers realized it was the same individual who committed the crimes. The suspect produced a hand gun and demanded money from the clerks. No one was injured and the suspect was seen leaving both locations on foot.
It was later determined that the suspect had a vehicle in the area and drove off after the second robbery.
Sheriff's Deputies along with officers from the Dowagiac and Pokagon Tribal Police Departments and a K-9 officer searched the area. Information collected during the investigation identified a suspect.
The suspect was later taken into custody and is being held in the Cass County Jail, pending their arraignment in District Court.
