(COLOMA) – State Senator Kim LaSata has announced that she will be running for re-election in the newly created State Senate District 17.

LaSata says Michigan's southern border region is her home. She's worked in Lansing to represent the people of the region to provide support for local law enforcement and public safety, to protect parents' choices in education, and to preserve pieces of history that make the region so unique.

LaSata says the region's biggest competition is just over the border in Indiana and Ohio. Many family owned small businesses have suffered greatly under the destructive COVID orders. LaSata says she has proudly worked to get the region's economy back on track so that businesses can grow and invest in our communities.

Currently, LaSata represents the 21st Michigan Senate District, which is St. Joseph, Cass and a majority of Berrien County. Under the ruling of the Independent Redistricting Commission, the new 17th Senate District will include St. Joseph, Cass, and Branch Counties, the southern half of Berrien County, a portion of Calhoun County and the western parts of both Hillsdale and Jackson Counties.
