(STURGIS) – Some Sturgis High School students held a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event Sunday at the Sturges-Young Center For The Arts.

The newly formed SHS Social Justice Club held the event as their way to keep the legacy of Dr. King alive, and to let the community know that we are still fighting the same fights we were when Dr. King was alive.

Sturgis Mayor Jeff Mullins was the keynote speaker for the event. He shared that social justice is not just about race, but other matters as well. ...... {LISTEN}.

Mullins also told the audience that there are may faces to social justice, and that this is a process. ...... {LISTEN}.

Members of the Social Justice Club shared their poems and stories they wrote for the audience. Several posters were on display, including one with some answers given by SHS students from a survey that was handed out by the club.
