(CASSOPOLIS) – No injuries were reported in a shooting incident that happened Tuesday morning in Cass County.

Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department was contacted at 8:45 AM Tuesday about a man who had stopped his vehicle at the intersection of Calvin Center Road and Brownsville Street in Calvin Township. The suspect exited his vehicle and began shooting at other vehicles and objects in the area.

Witnesses called 911 and reported the suspect got back into his vehicle and was driving north on Calvin Center Road. The callers continued providing information about where the suspect was going.

Deputies found the suspect and the vehicle at the Dollar General Store in Vandalia. The man got out of his automobile and drew his gun on the deputies. After a short confrontation, he was taken into custody by deputies and officers with the Cassopolis Police Department.

The suspect, a 46 year old Calvin Township man, was taken to the Cass County Jail where he is being held, pending his arraignment in District Court. His name has not been released and the incident is still under investigation.
