(LAGRANGE) – The Lakeland School Corporation will have a new Superintendent when the 2022-2023 school year starts.

The Lakeland School Board announced Tuesday the resignation of Dr. Gregory Baker as Superintendent. The School Board will be asked to approve the naming of Dr. Traci Blaize as the interim Superintendent during their meeting on August 1. Blaize currently serves as the Principal at Lakeland Primary School.

The Lakeland Board of Education voted to hire Baker in April of 2021 out of a pool of very talented educators and after a two round interview process. He officially started July 1 of that year.

Baker is a life long resident of Northeast Indiana, and served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years. Prior to coming to Lakeland, he had been a teacher for 5 years, an assistant principal for 6 years and the last 10 as a high school principal.

No reason was given by the Lakeland School Board for Baker’s resignation.
