No Change In Michigan’s Jobless Rate In June

(LANSING) – There was no change in Michigan’s unemployment rate from May to June, staying at 4.3 percent.

The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget says the June unemployment rate marks the third straight month it’s been at 4.3 percent. Statewide employment edged up by 7,000, while unemployment was unchanged.

Michigan’s statewide labor force participation rate stood at 60.1 percent, and the employment-population ratio was at 57.5 percent. Both were little changed from May to June, moving up by one-tenth of a percent.

The most pronounced job gains in Michigan occurred in the professional and business services sector (+7,000) and the manufacturing sector (+4,000).

Wayne Rourke, Associate Director of the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives says both employment and payroll jobs edged up slightly from May to June, while the unemployment rate was unchanged.
