By: Beth Swary - Friday, August 5, 2022

QUINCY – The Branch, Hillsdale and St. Joseph Community Health Agency is asking residents and visitors to the Marble Lake/Fisher Creek area to avoid the Marble Lake water inlet area, as well as Fisher Creek in the area from east of S. Ray Quincy Road and north of Campbell Road.

The agency stated they were notified by the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) of untreated manure that overflowed from a waste storage structure in Algansee Township.

EGLE staff have been on site and have observed manure in Fisher Creek, 3-4 miles downstream, and at the water inlet of Marble Lake.

In a press release Rebecca Burns, Health Officer for the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency said, “Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is in contact with EGLE staff. We advise residents to avoid the inlet area, keeping themselves, children, and pets out of the water if manure is observed.”

The Joseph Community Health Agency states they are committed to promoting wellness, preventing disease, providing health care, and protecting the environment.
