(HOWARD TOWNSHIP) – A two vehicle crash sent two people to the hospital.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department was called out Sunday at 6:35 PM to investigate a two vehicle crash on M-51 near Warren Road in Howard Township.

Deputies determined that 28 year old William Wallace of Buchanan was driving south on M-51, passing a vehicle and in the process, struck a northbound automobile head on.

Wallace and the driver of the northbound auto, 25 year old Kelly Briese of Mishawaka, were injured in the crash and taken to Lakeland Niles Hospital to be treated for their injuries. Briese’s passenger, 24 year old Kamran Ahmad of Dowagiac, was not injured.

Everyone was wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, and airbags in both vehicles activated. Assisting deputies were the Pokagon Tribal Police, the Howard Township Fire Department and the SMCAS Ambulance.
