(THREE RIVERS) – The City of Three Rivers has approved a special exception for a marijuana based business.

During their meeting Tuesday, the Three Rivers City Commission was presented with a recommendation from the Planning Commission for G.O.A.T. Cannabis Company. Three Rivers Mayor Tom Lowery says the G.O.A.T Cannabis Company has leased space in a strip mall on the west side of U.S. 131 with the intention of operating a marijuana retail business.

G.O.A.T. Cannabis submitted a special exception use request in the form of a Marijuana Establishment License Application, and it has been determined that it meets most requirements as listed as special exception uses and other business zoning districts.

No citizens spoke during the public hearing. Some of the Commissioners asked questions about other marijuana based businesses and where they were at in the application process.

The Commissioners approved the motion as presented.
