Sturgis Chamber Gives Awards During Annual Dinner

(STURGIS) – It was a night to honor and recognize businesses and individuals for what they do for the City of Sturgis.

The Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual dinner Thursday at the Sturges-Young Center for the Arts. Chamber Executive Director Roxanne Persing and Master of Ceremonies Tom Duke of Super Hits 99.3, WBET kept the evening fun with the theme of “Board Games” being front and center, and
specifically the game Clue.

Several awards were handed out by the Chamber during the evening. One of them was The Phoenix Award, give to a business location that has done updates and upgrades to their building and grounds, or a new business that has stood out. This year’s winner is Sparrow House, a senior living facility. Libby Hooley shared how Sparrow House came to be. ...... {LISTEN}.

Other nominees were Sturgis Academy of Martial Arts and Piper’s Pizza and Grinders.

The Outstanding Customer Service Award was given to Maria’s Mexican Restaurant. Other nominees were Five Lakes Coffee and Matt Boland of Boland’s Best one Tire. The Community Service Award was given to Barry Lindblom of Meyer’s Automotive Services.

The Chamber Ambassador Of The Year Award was given to Emily Stemen and the Chamber Participation Award went to Nick West. In addition, outgoing Chamber Board President Matt Scheske was honored for his service and new Board President Bret Hamlin was introduced to the crowd via video.

A special award of Honorary Board Member was given to Leonard Eishen.
