(CONSTANTINE) – The Village of Constantine has taken a step to help build a splash pad.

During a recent meeting, the Constantine Village Council voted unanimously to approve the application for a Michigan Spark Grant in the amount of $225,000.
The grant is administered by the Department of Natural Resources and goes to support public recreational facilities.

The Village is looking to build the splash pad on land they own on East Water Street, which is just to the east of the Village Office and Fire Station building. The Constantine Downtown Development Association will give $25,000 towards the project.

The preliminary plans call for the splash pad to have a spray link arch, fan and fountain; a silhouette pelican; a wolf cannon, a water bug along with a twin splash area. The pad would take up 1,980 square feet.

Construction would be done by Vortex Aquatic Structures.
