(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indiana State Representative Dr. Denny Zent will be taking on a new responsibility in the upcoming legislative session.

Zent, a Republican from Angola, who was re-elected to a sixth term in the Indiana House in November, will be the new Assistant Majority Floor Leader.

Zent was penciled in to be Chairman of the House Local Government Committee in the new session. However, he is contemplating a possible knee replacement surgery in the near future and didn’t want to accept that position and then not be available due to the surgery and recovery.

Indiana House Speaker Todd Huston says he spoke to Zent about this new position and how it would be a benefit to the younger members of the House to have a veteran lawmaker there to support and assist them.

Zent will also continue serving as a member of the House Public Health Committee and the Veterans and Public Safety Committee.
