(LAGRANGE) – The LaGrange County Commission voted in favor of purchasing generators for the three main County buildings.

During Thursday’s meeting, the County approved a request from County Courthouse Maintenance Supervisor Gary Mast to purchase and install three new natural gas generators at the County Justice Building, the County Courthouse and the County Annex Building.

Mast says these generators would turn on within seconds of detecting a power outage. By keeping power on in these buildings, the generators will not only protect the buildings but also protect the sensitive computer and elevator systems.

The cost for the generators will be just under $350,000, and will be purchased from J.O. Mory of South Milford. Mory staff will install the generators.

Due to the problems with supply chains, Mast says he had been told by Mory officials that it could take up to 44 weeks for the project to be completed.

Commissioners agreed to pay for the generators with American Rescue Plan Act funds.
