City Commission Honors Hughes During Last Meeting

(STURGIS) – After 17 years on the job, Mike Hughes attended his final Sturgis City Commission meeting Wednesday as Sturgis City Manager.

Sturgis Mayor Jeff Mullins presented Hughes with a proclamation, which thanked Hughes for his leadership, his skills and also shared some of the projects that Hughes helped to broker as City Manager. ...... {LISTEN}.

The proclamation also thanked Hughes who maintained a fiscally stable and healthy organization for the City of Sturgis. He’s helped stabilize utility funds, handle the issues of the 2008 economic downturn and has provided reasonable budgets and overall organizational strengths.

Hughes also met regularly with area township supervisors and held positions with different organizations such as the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce.

Hughes announced in October he was resigning as City Manager effective January 20. He has accepted a position with Parma Tube.
