(FREMONT) – Four people including three children are dead following a Fremont house fire.

The Indiana State Police and the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office are continuing their investigation into a house fire that happened at 400 East Toledo Street. Steuben County Dispatch received a call just after 5 AM Saturday of a fire at the dwelling. The Fremont Fire Department arrived on scene, and were assisted by the Angola, Orland and Ashley-Hudson Fire Departments.

When firefighters entered the house, they found three children and a woman in one room. They were all taken to Cameron Memorial Hospital in Angola.

The Steuben County Coroner’s Office have identified them as 37 year old Rebecca White, and her children, 5 year old Emmett Freed, 3 year old Eleanor Freed and 21 month old Alura Freed. The children were all pronounced dead at the hospital.

White was flown to the burn center at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, where she later died from her injuries.

The Indiana Fire Marshal’s Office says early indications show the fire started somewhere on the second floor of the dwelling. Authorities are still investigating what caused the fire.
