(STEUBEN COUNTY) – An investigation into an armed confrontation led to the arrest of four people on drug and weapons related charges.

At 6 PM Sunday, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of South Wayne Street in Angola on a report of a violent altercation with a person armed with a shotgun. Deputies arrived and discovered the incident in question happened over 12 hours earlier at a residence in the 3800 block of East Peachy Street in rural Fremont Township.

Deputies spoke to a woman who said she and a man had been involved in the incident at 4:30 AM Sunday with a man identified as 40 year old Alphonso Vasquez II. The woman said Vasquez pointed a shotgun at the two victims and made threats towards them. Vasquez also fired the shotgun twice, before another woman at the residence got the gun away from Vasquez and the victims were able to leave.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for the Peachy Street location and with the help of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Special Response Tactical Team and the Auburn Police Emergency Response Team, searched the house. Sheriff’s detectives located several items believed to be evidence related to the incident, along with finding suspected narcotics.

In addition, officers located Vasquez and took him into custody.

After conducting several interviews with the occupants of the Peachy Street residence, officers determined the original altercation was over a recent drug trafficking incident.

Officers arrested Vasquez on multiple felony charges, including: intimidation with a deadly weapon; criminal recklessness with a firearm; domestic battery with a firearm; pointing a loaded firearm; and dealing in a controlled substance. He is also facing misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and criminal mischief.

Also arrested was 32 year old Amanda Vasquez of Fremont on felony charges of Dealing in a controlled substance and Obstruction of Justice along with misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Officers arrested 19 year old Isaiah Pearl of Fremont and 20 year old Nikyla Church of Defiance, Ohio. Each is charged with dealing a controlled substance, which is a felony.

The case remains under investigation.
