(BUTLER TOWNSHIP) – One person was injured Wednesday afternoon when a fire truck struck a pick up.

According to the Branch County Sheriff’s Department, 55 year old David Smalley was driving his pick up on Clarendon Road at 2:26 PM and attempted to turn left onto Butler Road. Smalley says he didn’t see a Litchfield Fire Truck heading west on Clarendon Road with its lights and sirens going and the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the fire truck, 50 year old Daniel Roberts of Litchfield, received an injury to his forehead and was taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for treatment. Smalley was not injured in the crash.

The Litchfield Fire Department had been called to provide mutual aid to the Quincy Fire Department who was battling a field fire in the 1000 block of Butler Road. The Tekonsha Fire Department was also called to assist in fighting the blaze.
