Sturgis Hospital REH Conversion Date Set

(STURGIS) – The date has been set for Sturgis Hospital’s conversion to a Rural Emergency Hospital.

Wednesday night, Sturgis Hospital Board of Directors President Jeremy Gump presented the Sturgis City Commission with the updated timeline for the conversion. ...... {LISTEN}.

May 6 will be the official date of the switch for Sturgis Hospital to a Rural Emergency Hospital. Gump says Sturgis Hospital will continue to provide emergency room services to the public with this change. ...... {LISTEN}.

In addition, Sturgis Hospital will continue to provide their current list of outpatient services including: medical imaging (CT, MRI, X-ray, Ultrasound), EKGs, ECHO, Cardiac Rehab, Sleep Studies, Infusions, Nuclear Medicine, Laboratory, Physical Therapy, Stress Tests: Cardiac and Nuclear, Mammography: Screening & Diagnostic, as well as Outpatient Surgeries for Ophthalmology, Podiatry, General Surgery, and Endoscopy.

Gump says this conversion will not affect patient relationships with primary care physicians at any of the various facilities or offices in Sturgis and the surrounding area. Patients can continue to have labs, x-rays and other outpatient services performed at Sturgis Hospital.

Sturgis Hospital will also be maintaining their relationships with other area hospitals, providing transport assistance when necessary in medical cases that require inpatient care.
