(LANSING) – A road and bridge repair project in Coldwater is one of seven projects that will start next week.

On Wednesday, Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Transportation announced the projects which will be done in seven counties and support 3,342 jobs.

The project in Coldwater will be resurfacing three-quarters of a mile of U.S. 12 between the Coldwater River and the intersection of Western and Butters Avenues on the west side of the city. MDOT is investing $2.4 million into the project, which will include approach and bridge repairs over the Coldwater River, as well as milling and resurfacing, joint repairs, guardrails and concrete sidewalk improvements.

The work will improve the driving surface and extend the life of the roadway and the bridge.

Work will start on May 1 and should be finished by November 17. Drivers should expect lane closures on U.S. 12. There will also be a temporary signal at the Coldwater Bridge from late May through mid August during bridge repairs.
