MSP Investigating Cass County Armed Robbery

(HOWARD TOWNSHIP) – Michigan State Police are asking for the public’s help regarding an armed robbery that happened in Cass County’s Howard Township.

Troopers from the Niles Post were called to the Sunrise Corner Liquor Store around 10 PM on April 27. The preliminary investigation revealed that a male suspect wearing a disguise, walked into the store at closing time, brandishing a cleaver knife and demanded money and vapes He ran away from the store with an undisclosed amount of cash along with four Breeze Pro vape pens.

The suspect is described as a black male between 5’7” and 5’11” tall, weighing between 130 and 160 pounds and has short black hair.

Employees say the disguise was three distinct layers of clothing, worn over his face and head. The first layer is described as a black, wool, beanie hat with a large hole on the black left, and pulled completely over his eyes. The second layer consisted of a bright blue beanie hat, which was also pulled over his face. The final layer was a bright red piece of ripped clothing wrapped around the back of his neck. The disguise appeared to be filled with lawn debris.

The suspect was also wearing unclean white socks; dark brown or black sandals with distinct two-tone outsoles and Velcro style straps; worn-out blue jeans with a ripped front right pocket area exposing white pocket lining; an old worn-out dark blue crewneck sweatshirt covered with lawn debris, and the sleeves were pulled down to cover his hands.
