(STURGIS) – While Sturgis Public Schools is doing a good job of keeping students and staff safe, there is always room for improvement.
That was part of the message delivered to the Sturgis Board of Education during their Monday study session, Safety Director David Northrop shared that the School District recently had a safety assessment done, which was a paid for by a grant.
Northrop told the Board that he was informed to not get down when the results of the survey are given to the School District. ...... {LISTEN}.
Northrop explained to the Board of Education that the items of concern in the report ranged from better lighting for the outside and inside of the school buildings; knowing who the medical personnel are for the District; new interior doors in the buildings; and updating the entrance areas to the buildings.
Northrop says some of these items are “easy” fixes. Others will be more detailed and elaborate to get corrected. He says Sturgis Superintendent Art Ebert will go over the results of the assessment with the Board in more detail during their upcoming study session. Then Northrop says he will meet with Ebert and work to put a plan into place to get these items taken care of.
