Woman And Child Injured In Semi vs Car Crash

(CONSTANTINE TOWNSHIP) – Two people were injured in a collision between a semi and a car in St. Joseph County’s Constantine Township.

Michigan State Police say a passenger car was stopped at the intersection of North River Road and U.S. 131, and then entered the intersection, failing to yield to a southbound semi, and the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the car, a 27 year old Warsaw, Indiana woman, was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo by West Michigan Air Care with life threatening injuries. Her two year old son was in a child safety seat. He was also taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital with serious injuries.

The semi driver, a 46 year old Cedar Springs, Michigan man, was not injured.

Assisting at the scene were the Constantine Police Department, the Constantine Township Fire Department, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department and Life Care EMS.

Everyone was wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
