Jobless Rates Drop Around Southern Michigan From July To August

(LANSING) – Counties around Southern Michigan saw unemployment rates go down from July to August.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget says that St. Joseph County had the largest unemployment rate drop over the month, going from 5.4% to 4.5%.
Branch County’s unemployment rate went down from 4.5% to 4.2% while Cass County went from 5.1% to 4.7%. Hillsdale County saw their unemployment drop from 4.9% to 4.6%.
Statewide, the unemployment rate went from 4.3% to 4.2%.
Wayne Rourke, Labor Market Information Director of the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics says the State’s regional labor markets all displayed typical seasonal rate declines in August.
