MSP Arrest Fleeing And Eluding Suspect

(COLDWATER) – A suspect has been arrested following an incident in Coldwater.
Michigan State Police from the Marshall Post initially stopped the driver of a Chevy Tahoe on September 22 at 1:30 AM on Chicago Road near Airport Road. The trooper stopped the vehicle for excessive speed, and additionally the vehicle’s plate information indicated expired registration and no insurance.
As troopers approached the vehicle, it sped away. For public safety reasons, troopers made an informed decision to not initiate a chase. They had enough information from the vehicle and the video to launch an investigation to locate the driver.
A short time later, troopers located the vehicle parked at a local hotel Video surveillance footage from the hotel confirmed the driver had arrived and checked in with a woman.
An attempt to contact the driver in his room was unsuccessful. A search warrant was obtained and executed and the alleged driver and a 22 year old woman were found in the room. They were detained and interviewed regarding this incident.
Troopers arrested 26 year old Jimiel Jackson of Detroit on two counts of fourth degree fleeing and eluding a police officer; resisting and obstructing a police officer; driving without a valid license and operating a vehicle without security. He was taken to the Branch County Jail and also arraigned in Branch County District Court.
