(STURGIS) – The final brush pick up of 2023 in the City of Sturgis will start on Monday, October 2.

DPS crews will begin pickup on the North side of the City and work their way South. Weather conditions and varying amounts of brush make it difficult to adhere to a strict schedule, therefore it is necessary to have your materials ready for pickup and crews will get to them as quickly as possible.

Crews will on be making one pass through the North and South sides of the City.

Rules for brush pickup are: Materials must be neatly stacked on the terrace away from objects or obstructions such as power poles, guy wires, signposts, valve boxes etc. A limit of one truck load of material per parcel will be collected and hauled away. Limbs, branches, or brush material larger than 4 inches in diameter or longer than 8 feet in length will not be collected. No grass clippings, roots, thorn bearing branches, tree trunks, stumps or construction materials will be collected.

If you miss this pickup, you can take your brush to the Compost Site on Fawn River Road. Their hours until the end of October are Monday and Thursday from 12 PM until 7:30 PM; Saturday from 9 AM until 5 PM and Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM.

During November, the Compost Site will be open Monday and Thursday from 12 PM until 6 PM; Saturday 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday 1 PM to 5 PM.

The Compost Site will close for the season at 6 PM on Monday, November 20.
