Man Injured When Semi Strikes Tractor

(CLAY TOWNSHIP) – One person was injured when a semi struck a farm tractor.

The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office says a semi pulling a loaded trailer was driving south on County Road 600 West, just north of U.S. 20 at 11:50 AM Tuesday.

The semi driver, Bernard Loewen of Syracuse, Indiana, was passing several other southbound vehicles, including a farm tractor. The driver of the tractor, Brian Pluimer of Millersburg, Indiana, was attempting to pull into a private drive, when he was struck by the semi.

Pluimer was thrown off the tractor in the collision. The semi continued south for a short distance and then rolled over onto its side..

Pluimer was flown from the scene to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. His condition is not known. Loewen was treated at the scene.

Assisting deputies were the Shipshewana Police Department, LaGrange Fire Rescue, Shipshewana Fire Rescue, Parkview LaGrange EMS and LaGrange County EMA.
