(VOLINIA TOWNSHIP) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit and run accident in Volinia Township.

Sheriff Richard Behnke says at 5:15 PM Thursday, 7 year old Michael Winchester of Schoolcraft was traveling east on Marcellus Highway. As he entered the intersection of Decatur Road, a silver minivan traveling north pulled into the road in front of Winchester and the vehicles crashed. The minivan then fled the scene.

Winchester was not injured in the crash. His passenger, 70 year old Sally Winchester, received minor injuries and was taken to Bronson Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Assisting at the scene were the Wayne Township Fire Department, the Michigan State Police and the SMCAS Ambulance Service.
