(STURGIS) – Sturgis Public Schools will be presenting a supplemental millage request to the voters in early 2024.

Schools in Michigan receive funding from many different sources. Sturgis Schools Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert says one of them is a non homestead millage. ...... {LISTEN}.

The non homestead millage is placed against all non primary residences such as a second home or a business.

Ebert says that has happened to the Sturgis Schools millage, which has dropped down to 17.6862 mills. He explains how that works out for Sturgis in the current school year. ...... {LISTEN}.

If approved, the Supplemental Millage will only be in effect until the non homestead millage comes to an end in 2034.

Sturgis Public Schools will bring the matter to a vote during the 2024 Presidential Primary election, either in February or March.
